Klobuchar on Senate Rule Change Allowing Children Up to One Year Old on Senate Floor

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) today issued the following statement following the passage of a rule change that would allow children up to one year-old on the floor of the U.S. Senate with an accompanying parent. As Ranking Member of the Senate Rules Committee, Klobuchar led the effort to make this change with Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Chairman Roy Blunt (R-MO).

“Every day moms and dads balance being great parents and successful professionals, and workplaces need to recognize that reality,” Senator Klobuchar said. “The United States Senate should be no exception. We are proud to have Senator Tammy Duckworth—working mom to a newborn –among our ranks and I’m glad the Rules Committee was able to swiftly make this historic rule change for her and future senators.”
