WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Ranking Member of the Senate Rules Committee, with oversight over federal elections, issued the following statement after Joe Biden formally cleared the 270 Electoral College vote threshold.
“Today across the country, members of the Electoral College cast their votes to affirm the historic election of President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris. As the top Democrat on the Senate Rules Committee, I will participate in the Joint Session of Congress on January 6 where we will finish this process and count the electoral votes sent to us by the states, and on January 20 the world will watch President-elect Biden take the oath of office during the 59th Presidential Inauguration. Now that the states have certified their results, I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and the incoming Biden Administration to help our country recover from this pandemic and get our economy back on track.”
