Ranking Member Klobuchar Statement on Postmaster General DeJoy’s Appearance at Senate Hearing

Klobuchar and her colleagues have called on USPS to immediately reverse changes to Postal Service operations and address mail service delays 

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration with oversight jurisdiction over federal elections, released the following statement after the U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy appeared before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing titled, “Examining the Finances and Operations of the United States Postal Service During COVID-19 and Upcoming Elections.”

For weeks, Senator Klobuchar has led an effort with her colleagues to call on USPS to reverse changes to postal service operations and address mail service delays. 

“We are receiving countless complaints from across the country about delayed mail – yet during today’s hearing, the Postmaster refused to take responsibility. Most concerning, he refused to commit to reverse the policies he recently put in place that have drastically slowed mail delivery. I will continue to hold this Administration accountable, and push for reforms to help ensure all mail, including election mail, is delivered on time. People's lives, their livelihoods, and our democracy are on the line.”
