U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer (D-NY), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, released the following statement Friday regarding the House Administration Committee’s passage of the DISCLOSE Act to respond to the Citizens United ruling that opened the door to unlimited corporate spending on elections. Schumer is the chief sponsor of the Senate companion.
“This is a major step forward in our effort to stop a flood of special interest money from drowning out the voices of average Americans this November. We are working to advance the bill in the Senate, and plan to move it in the coming weeks. The reforms will be in place in time for the November elections."
