WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, today welcomed the White House’s announcement that it will nominate two individuals, Sean J. Cooksey and Shana M. Broussard, to the Federal Election Commission.
“The Federal Election Commission has been without a quorum since August of this year and without a full slate of commissioners since February 2017,” said Blunt. “I intend to move quickly to process these nominations and restore the FEC’s ability to carry out its most important functions, like holding hearings, making new rules, issuing advisory opinions, conducting investigations, and approving enforcement actions. Given the unique challenges facing campaigns now and in the months ahead due to the coronavirus pandemic, I urge my colleagues to support our efforts to fill these vacancies and ensure the FEC is able to do its job.”
