WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (Minn.) and Roy Blunt (Mo.), Chairwoman and Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, today released letters they have sent to U.S. Capitol security partners requesting information related to the committee’s investigation of the attack on the U.S. Capitol that occurred on January 6, 2021.
“United States Capitol Police line officers did a remarkable job under unimaginable circumstances, despite security planning failures,” said Klobuchar and Blunt. “We owe it to the American people and the men and women who protect the U.S. Capitol to have a full understanding of the events that preceded the January 6th attack and what needs to be done to prevent a similar incident from happening again. Our committee will thoroughly review all of the information requested and proceed with our investigation in an open and transparent manner.”
Klobuchar and Blunt previously announced that the Rules Committee would conduct oversight with the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee of the security failures that preceded the January 6th attack.
