Rules Committee Approves Nomination of Hugh Halpern to Serve as Government Publishing Office Director

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, released the following statement today after the committee voted to approve the nomination of Hugh Halpern to serve as Director of the Government Publishing Office:

“Hugh Halpern is widely known and respected on both sides of the aisle. During his more than 30 years of service in the U.S. House of Representatives, he had extensive experience working with the Government Publishing Office and will bring to this job a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities ahead for the agency. During his confirmation hearing, Mr. Halpern presented a clear vision for modernizing operations, improving the customer experience, and ensuring GPO’s long-term viability as the official resource for government information. I’m confident he’ll be a capable leader and problem solver at this critical time for the agency. I’m proud to support his confirmation and I urge my colleagues to do the same.”
