WASHINGTON – U.S. Sens. Roy Blunt (Mo.) and Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, will hold a hearing titled, “Election Security Preparations: Federal and Vendor Perspectives” at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in Room 301 of the Russell Senate Office Building. The committee will hear from federal officials and election vendors about the steps they are taking to coordinate with state and local election officials to secure election infrastructure, guarantee robust information sharing, and ensure confidence in our elections. The hearing is expected to include a discussion of issues relating to information sharing efforts coordinated by the Department of Homeland Security; the application of cybersecurity standards to federal elections, including voting equipment; the awarding of $380 million in grants to states to improve election infrastructure; and current legislative proposals before the Senate. The committee previously held a hearing focused on state and local election security perspectives.
